Neuricam Success Stories
NeuriCam's products and technologies have enabled a number of key customers to develop successful new solutions for applications in emerging areas. In some cases the applications were developed in co-operation with NeuriCam's engineering team.
Automotive: Overtaking Detector
An Overtaking Detector for cars based on the VISoc
intelligent sensor chip and module has been developed and tested in co-operation with a
leading manufacturer of rear-view mirrors.
The detector placed in the external mirror of the vehicle recognises overtaking
situations in real time and alerts the driver via a visual or audio signal.
Extensive on-road tests have shown state-of-the-art real-time performance
even in unfavourable conditions of illumination, temperature and vibration.
Automotive: Lane Tracker, Multisensor and Passenger Position Sensors
Other applications in the automotive area include: a Lane Tracker based on the VISoc
intelligent optical sensor; a fog, rain, glare, daylight Multisensor based on the
Pupilla sensor, the demo of a Passenger Position Sensor based on the 3D Stereo camera.
Biomedical
A small size, battery driven, oral endoscope (Laryngoscope) has been
developed in collaboration with a customer in the biomedical sector.
It is based on a sensor, vision processor and colour TFT display coupled
via a suitable optical block to a coherent optical fibre.
A second optical fibre conveys the light generated by a white LED within
the instrument to the observation area.
The instrument is intended to ease the intubation procedure
during the initial phases of surgical operations.
Biometrics
A customer has integrated the smart camera EtherCam
with its proprietary Face-Recognition code to build reliable
terminals for use in airports.
A number of sites have already been equipped with the terminals.
Other biometric applications include Fingeprinting Terminals integrated in police stations in Italy and Switzerland utilizing the NC1002 sensor coupled with processor and peripherals to build compact embedded terminals.
Transport and Security
NeuriCam's Licence Plate Reader was employed in conjunction
with PCCam or other cameras in parking lots in several Italian airports.
A miniaturized cigarette-pack sized Solid-State Image Recorder for security applications was developed from NeuriCam’s vision IP processing blocks. It compresses in MPEG 2 format and stores up to 16 hours of PAL video and audio streams on a removable 8-Gbyte Compact Flash module.
Industrial
A number of quality control applications have been
successfully tackled for industrial customers.
